the process and every obstacle they encounter is so real for countries where people have just begun, I do understand their ambition of making 15 movies because making only one movie does not make a studio you need many, and more, and after making only one movie you can simply disappear( and that happens a lot) , I wish them all luck, and hope that we international audience will be able to watch it soon! And i wish that more people from all over the world will be able to make us such films.

And thank you for this awesome coverage it's very entertaining and surprising too!

Thank you for this comment! Very thoughtful and kind. We're happy that Arturo was so forthcoming about what they've gone through: it's a story that we feel can really resonate with other animators around the world, and we hope it can encourage someone or give them ideas.

Surely it does

Followed the companies youtube page. I really hope I can catch this on a big screen.

We definitely recommend the big screen experience if you can see the film that way! From what we've heard, it should be getting a wide release in Mexico later this year, with further distribution TBD after that. Will definitely be reporting in the newsletter as we learn more.

I am very glad I found your substack. I've been really getting into underseen animation lately. Mainly thanks to the label Deaf Crocodile and their fantastic releases.

Ah, glad you're enjoying! Hope you'll like what we've got planned for the coming months. We're Deaf Crocodile fans ourselves -- coincidentally, we may very soon be writing something about a film they released this year!

This was such a wonderful edition. It has inspired me to do some stop motion experimentation with my watercolor drawings.

This is fantastic to hear! Interviewing Arturo after that screening was a standout moment of the newsletter for us, and we're really happy to know that the result is still inspiring folks.

Watching it in the theater at Annecy was a highlight of the festival last year! We're looking forward to checking out the final cut -- the film was reworked with del Toro's help for its wide release, and we haven't yet had a chance to see how it changed.

I really wanted to watch frankelda but it was really packed at the pathe . But I hope I’ll get another chance to watch it in the future because I met some of the animators while waiting in the line and they look very nice!

We were surprised to see how long the reservation line was by the time we got there! A ton of people showed up for that screening -- and, for sure, the Cinema Fantasma folks are awesome. Fingers crossed that you can catch it at another festival, or that it gets a wide theatrical release soon!

Thank you! We were really excited to see that several projects from the Philippines were at Annecy this year including yours. The schedule was so packed that we only caught 3 WIPs between us, but we hope yours went great -- and congrats on the coverage in Le Film Francais!

What a thrill to see the film, the puppets and the filmmakers. Can't wait to see this one - I hope it gets a bit of a theatrical release in North America

It would be awesome if it actually hit theaters stateside -- fingers crossed. And glad you enjoyed the piece! This whole experience (the film combined with everything happening around it) was really special, and not much at Annecy has rivaled it for us.

We're excited for more people to have the chance to watch it! The Ambriz brothers are super humble and open -- this whole experience was a highlight of the year for us.
