You are donig a marvelous job here! And I was so lucky to find you! Keep up and thank you so much for your hard work and vivid love! Really what were we do without you?!
Thank you for sharing how readers responded to your writings about Miyazaki. It's fascinating to me that the myth of Miyazaki continues to endure internationally. Just this week an anime industry personnel in Japan noted that while the strategy of not marketing his latest film is understandable, Miyazaki has been out of the limelight in his country for almost a decade. There are schoolchildren who have grown up not knowing who he is at all, so it's anyone's guess what the box office performance of the new film will be like.
It's a really interesting problem -- you do have to wonder how a new Miyazaki film will do after all this time, especially in Japan. Ghibli has a history of taking huge risks and most of them have panned out, but not always. Miyazaki and his films are more famous than they've ever been outside Japan, although even that doesn't guarantee huge box-office numbers. We'll have to see. And thank you!
Everything your newsletter has done throughout this year has blown my mind, especially given the small staff! I always appreciate the balance between covering niche, obscure animations and mainstream ones, both of which are more interconnected than meets the eye. I bet you guys will return with a bang after your well-earned break.
Thanks a ton, Samuel! It's awesome that you've gotten so much out of the newsletter so far. Really appreciate all the positive comments -- and hope you'll enjoy what we're working on next!
Congratulations on a jam-packed 2023 so far (hard to believe that it's already half over)! It's truly mind-boggling how much you've covered, and with the level of attention to detail and breadth of research that you somehow have managed *twice a week.* The brief break you're taking is well-deserved—I know you won't be just sipping mai-tais somewhere, but I hope you do take some time to truly take a breather so that you can return refreshed. Thank you so much, and see you in July.
Coleen -- thank you! This is so kind. We're going to try to get some genuine relaxation time in. Easing up that deadline pressure at all will be amazing. It's much-needed, and we're hoping to come back fully revitalized in July. See you then!

Thank you very, very much! We can't wait to show people the articles we've been preparing during our break.
We can’t be more excited!

You guys deserve a break! Hope to see you back in top form later in the year.
Thanks so much! It's going to be nice to dial back the pressure for a bit and catch our collective breath.
