Thank you for this! I knew some of these like Gerald and Magoo, but didn't link them together. Thanks for the links, I have great things to watch now....
My Animation Origins class was given a lecture on UPA a few weeks ago, so I had to revisit this. Great jumping off point for the studio, Robert Cannon's shorts definitely left the biggest impression on me.
Thanks very much -- this is great to hear, especially more than a year (!) after we published it. We really wanted it to be there long-term as an entry point for anyone looking to explore the studio's work. Glad you've gotten use out of it!
Mesmerizing and insightful look at UPA's history! I've long had an appreciation for their filmography and have seen some of their most famous ones, but this write makes me want to watch more of their cartoons.
Thank you, Samuel! Happy to introduce you to the studio's wider catalog -- there's even more than this hiding out there, but these films are some of the essentials, classics and must-see oddities for us.

We're big UPA fans -- it's a pleasure to share the studio's work! Hope you find a few new favorites among them.
...Have you ever seen "La Linea" by Osvaldo Cavandoli? 😊
We have! We even wrote a little bit about it back in 2021 in a paywalled issue. Its design is very cool.
Those UPA backgrounds are so distinguished.
