Big fan of your stack, please accept my sincerest praises.
I wanted to draw your attention on Pakistan's first hand-drawn animation movie 'The Glassworker'. It's slated for release in summer this year after years of labour.
Mano Animation Studios based in Pakistan is behind this pioneering effort, involving collaboration with artists across the world. The founder Usman Riaz was deeply influenced by Studio Ghibli and even had the good fortune to meet Hayao Miyazaki himself.
Thanks very much for the kind words! We've been keeping an eye on The Glassworker for a few years but hadn't heard about the summer 2024 release date until your comment here -- really appreciate the tip. We'll add it to next Sunday's news and watch for more information!
Always love hearing these stories of people making the absolute most of small budgets by making smart artistic choices - there's a lot to learn, whether you're indie animator or a big studio exec!
Agreed! A lot of the most creative ideas have been born out of limitations. There's a sense among some artists that you need a big budget and full team to do anything of value, and it can really demotivate them, especially if they feel like they can't access those things. We like to point out the alternatives whenever we get the chance -- for people willing to try unusual things, the sky really is the limit, even for zero-budget one-artist projects.
Thank you! The newsbits section doesn't take up a ton of real estate in our Sunday issues, but it's really important to us and we try to make it as interesting as we can. There's fascinating stuff happening in animation around the world and we want to shine a light on it.

Wonderful interview with Ed Bell, what a neat career and an epic early project in Big City.
Thank you -- glad you liked it!
I just watched this video. Such good memories from an era of groundbreaking modern animation and music!
Glad you liked it! Liquid Television really can feel like a time capsule -- it's pretty wild to watch today.

LOVE the FACE from Big City!
Another brilliant piece. I really like the round up part as it highlights, to me, the global reach of animation.
