This entire article is a *huge* encouragement to me. Having the conviction to make something as an indie artist without worrying about perfectionism is liberating. Thankyou.
Wow, that's fantastic to hear! We really wanted this issue to reach the people who needed to see it most -- so, this is exactly what we were hoping for. Thank you for this great comment!
It's so interesting how 'style over substance' has been deformed over the years to mechanical perfection, when something organic, simple and beautiful has nothing to do with time spent or polish. Bill Melendez's Peanuts shorts are a fully realised style and wouldn't be 'improved' by cleaning up line work.
Contrarily, "cleaning up" a deliberately rough style makes it feel sterile and more lacking in the human element. It's one of the issues I have with HD Simpsons and Family Guy.

Totally, they're characters designed for hand-drawn animation but now forced to slide around a toon boom canvas and it feels cheapened.
Digital 2D can also be stunning when designed for that style instead if modernising older characters though.
God you have soul
Haha, thank you!
